How would you read through a Hull ID Quantity?

The Hull Identification Variety (HIN) is really a 12- or 14-character serial range that uniquely identifies a ship. The HIN is analogous to a VIN on an automobile.

The 1st three digits would be the Producer’s Identification Code (ex. Boat brand name which include Sea Ray, Meridian, etc.). The 4 digits following that would be the manufacturer’s serial quantity for your boat. The 3rd and 4th digits from your stop are classified as the date of manufacture. The letter about the date from the manufacture corresponds towards the month of the calendar year, i.e. A = January, B = February, C = March and so on. The last two digits from the HIN quantity represent the product 12 months.

All boats produced or imported on or soon after November 1, 1972, must bear a HIN, which HIN need to be recognized in the course of boat registration. Vessels produced or imported before 1972 are EXEMPT because they generally don't have a HIN.
